Located in the heart of the Capital Mall District, we make our services available to hundreds of people in need every day. André House was founded by two Holy Cross Priests in 1984, combining elements of the Catholic Worker movement with the charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross. We dedicate ourselves to serving Jesus through others, as we are challenged in the Gospel, "...I was a stranger, and you welcomed me. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you took care of me. I was in prison, and you visited me.” (Matthew 25:35-36)

  • 550 Guests Served daily; 171,600 Meals served Annually

  • 1,800 guest loads per year

  • 7,400 showers per year

  • 7,700 sets per year

Over his diverse career, John has worked for many non-profits including Mother Theresa’s Missions of Charity as well as for profit and non profit law firms. John is a servant leader whose heart lies with those who are in need. He is the first lay person to serve as Executive Director of Andre House.

Jay Minich

Jay began with Andre House as a Core Staff Member in 2013 after 12 years as an Audit Services and Financial Reporting Manager for Illinois Tool Works, Inc. Jay has served as Andre House Director of Finance and Administration for the last 8 years.

Debbie Shane

Debbie came to Andre House 20 years ago as a guest in the women’s transitional house. She has been a volunteer, a 2016 core staff member, and is now the Director of Services and Facilities.

MICHAEL MURPHY

Director of Mission Advancement & Volunteer Services mmurphy@andrehouse.org
Michael is the founder and chief consultant of Clarus Development, having provided a variety of development consulting services to non-profits in Madison, WI. Michael also recently worked as a legislative aide to the WI State Senate & State Assembly.
