My name is Bri Boughter and I’m from South Padre Island, Texas. I just graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX with a degree in Biology and minor in Sociology! I plan to work in the nonprofit medical field one day, and I am committing myself to a year of service on the core team at Andre House because the work that’s done here is beautiful. I want to make sure that every person who walks through our doors knows they have a friend inside. I am beyond excited for this year, and I can’t wait to see the ways that Andre House shapes my life!

LAURA ABERNATHY
Hi everyone! My name is Laura Abernathy and I will be on core this upcoming year! I am from Pepperell, Massachusetts, and just graduated from Saint Anselm College with a bachelor of science in biology and a minor in chemistry. I first came to Andre House this past January with a break trip through Saint A’s campus ministry, and immediately fell in love with the mission and work we do here. Soon after that I knew I wanted to do a year of service! After this year finishes up, I plan on obtaining my Master’s in Public Health and attending medical school, where I can gain skills and experience supporting underprivileged populations like we do here. I’m so excited for this upcoming year and can’t wait to meet so many amazing individuals!

MATEO MIRAMONTES
Hello I’m Mateo Miramontes. I’m from Goodyear AZ and grew up here, went to U of A and studied physiology, started volunteering around 2017 through my school and fell in love. Now I’ve been given the gift to continue serving my friends and family in the Zone for a whole year!

My name is Jenny Wiertel and I am so excited to finally be joining core staff! I recently finished my Master of Divinity at the University of Notre Dame, where I studied ministry and theology. During my MDiv, I felt increasingly called to devote my life to the works of mercy, accompanying those on the margins of our society. During my MDiv I was lucky to spend 2 summers as an intern here at Andre House. I fell in love with this community – our guests, fellow staff, volunteers – this is a community where love is truly made incarnate and I am grateful to be a part of it!

Hi my name is Christy Bogan. I am from Fall River, MA and I recently graduated from Stonehill College. I majored in English and minored in Philosophy. I’m in the process of looking for graduate school in creative writing; with a love of writing, I hope to tell stories that inspire. This next chapter of my life starts with André House and I couldn’t be more excited to spend my gap year here, in a new state. I look forward to meeting new people, developing friendships, and bettering myself. Here’s to a year at André House!
